Level 1 Diploma
in Hairdressing

Course Duration: One Year

Course Outline

This course is designed for school leavers and mature learners with an interest in hairdressing.

The Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing covers a range of practical skills and relevant theoretical knowledge to prepare students for entry into the Hairdressing Industry. Practical work experience will be an essential part of this course and students will have an opportunity to spend time within a commercial salon during their training.

Excellent facilities will be offered for this course with the use of Francesco Group Academy and access to student/learning support at Stafford College.

Course Content

Introduction to the hair and beauty sector, presenting a professional image, styling and dressing hair, shampooing, working with others, creating an image, basic colour techniques and more.

Functional skills awards are also integrated into this course, in order to achieve the highest possible standard for this industry. Functional skills enable students to develop their career in this profession.

Assessment

Practical and on-line assessment procedures are used as evidence of satisfactory course completion, which will be target driven for achievement.

Entry Requirements

  • No formal qualifications are required.
  • The aspiration to be the best hairdresser you can be.
  • Satisfactory interview
  • Initial assessment in Maths and English
  • Future employees often request references from Francesco Group, poor attendance will be recorded and details placed on students’ personal files.

English & Maths

We are commited to helping students improve their skills in English and Maths. Students on a full-time course at College who missed out on GCSE qualifications at grades A-C in these subjects at school will attend additional classes and receive support to enhance their grades. Depending on individual ability, students will work towards GCSE, City & Guilds or Functional Skills Awards to ensure that they have the qualifications needed to progress to University or employment.

Uniform

A choice of your own fashionable clothing can be worn in the house colour of black.

As part of the salon rules and regulations students are not allowed to wear jewellery in the salon environment except one pair of small studs in the lower ear lobe, this also includes facial jewellery.

Kit

A Hairdressing Kit including Uniform will need to purchased at a cost of £260.00 (approx).

Additional Costs

Please note that students aged 19 plus may be required to pay exam and registration costs. This will be payable during the Autumn term. You may be able to get support towards these costs from the College Learner Support Fund, contact Carole Moore on 01785 275512 for further information.

Course Duration: One Year

This course is designed for students who have previously completed a Level 1 in Hairdressing Qualification, or it may be offered as a fast track course for learners with previous experience.

The Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing covers a range of practical skills and relevant theoretical knowledge to prepare students for the Hairdressing Industry. Practical work experience will be an essential part of this course and students will have an opportunity to spend time within a commercial salon during their training.

Excellent facilities will be offered for this course with the use of the Francesco Group Academy and access to student/learning support at Stafford College.

Course Content

To provide skills in a range of hairdressing techniques, client care, team working, record keeping, health and safety, cutting, perming, blow drying, hair setting and colouring techniques.

Functional skills awards are also integrated into this course, in order to achieve the highest possible standard for this industry. Functional skills enable students to develop their career in this profession.

Assessment

Practical and on-line assessment procedures are used as evidence of satisfactory course completion, which will be target driven for achievement.

  • Completion of a relevant Level 1 Hairdressing Qualification
  • Mature students - will be given consideration
  • Evidence of appropriate work experience in a salon setting
  • Students will be selected after an interview
  • Future employees often request references from Francesco Group, poor attendance will be recorded and details placed on students’ personal files

Course Outline

The Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing is designed for previously qualified Hairdressers at Level 2 who are currently working within hairdressing, or the next generation of salon managers who want to build on their skills as professionals.

Excellent facilities are offered for this course with the use of the Francesco Group Academy and access to student/learning support at Stafford College.

Course Content

The course is designed to meet the needs of hairdressers wishing to develop their skills with course modules including:

  • Hairdressing Consultation Services
  • Cut hair using a combination of techniques
  • Creatively colour and lighten hair
  • Creatively style and dress hair
  • Hair colour correction services
  • CCreative hair design skills

Assessment

A Practical and on-line assessment will be completed as part of your course.
