Michelle Thompson WINS at British Hairdressing Awards

Our very own Michelle Thompson from the Advanced Academy in Stafford has been awarded one of hairdressings’ greatest accolades, the title of British Hairdressing Awards Afro Hairdresser of the Year 2009.
The biggest event in the hairdressing calendar was packed with over 1700 guests including all the big names and a strong contingent from the Francesco Group, who gathered to recognise exceptional creativity in hairdressing. We submitted Michelle’s beautiful Definitive Power Collection, which included stunning commercial looks that truly celebrate feminine strength. This is not Michelle’s first year for a nomination, so she had already been recognised by her peers as ‘one-to-watch’. Michelle’s win and Anya’s nomination are part of Francesco Groups long term commitment to sourcing the creative recognition for the brand that we so richly deserve. Michelle said "I spend a lot of my time educating others in how to truly excel with Afro and I want this award to be an inspiration to them. I am very proud of my win and my pictures and I will be back next year defending my title," says Michelle.
The event compered by popular media personality Dermot O’Leary is always a glittering and glamorous affair and this year celebrated its 25th Anniversary. Francesco Group has already established itself as a creative force to be reckoned within the UK and now we have a whole year to celebrate Michelle’s success!

Francesco Group Celebrate After Reaching the Finals of the British Hairdressing Awards 2009, for the Third Year in a Row.
The Group’s Director of Hairdressing, Anya Dellicompagni is one of only six finalists for the Midland’s Hairdresser of the Year category. Michelle Thompson, Creative Director at the Advanced Academy fought off stiff competition from across the UK to become one of six finalists for the Afro-Caribbean Hairdresser of the Year category.
The British Hairdressing Awards is the premier event in the hairdressing calendar, recognising the most talented and creative individuals in the hairdressing industry today. It is acknowledged world-wide for showcasing the very best in British hairdressing. Previous winners and finalists have gone onto achieve international acclaim and huge success for many years after.
The spectacular Grand Final will be held on 23rd November at the prestigious Grosvenor House hotel in London.

Stafford Salon Wins BIG at National Awards
The Francesco Group salon on Bridle Road, Stafford is celebrating after winning the Best Front of House award at The Sapphires, the franchising awards presented by trade magazine, Salon Business.
It officially means that, in the judges' opinions, Francesco Group has the best front of house team, providing client services that are above and beyond basic customer care skills. To be eligible for the award, the salon had to demonstrate how they make every client visit extra special. To make each visit memorable, the salon gives special extras at each appointment, including complimentary refreshments, in-depth consultations and head massages. Each client, greeted by name, gets a special personalised service and the salon is known for it's warm and friendly atmosphere, which is reflected in the salon’s client retention rate, currently at over 79%, 10% higher than the Group’s benchmark.
As part of the judging process, receptionist, Sheena Newlands underwent a rigorous "Dragon's Den" type panel interview to tell the judges about the front of house service and her role in implementing and maintaining the high standards.
The Sapphires is a new hairdressing industry awards event, specifically designed to recognise and reward success in the franchising sector, for both the franchisee and the franchisor. The glamorous awards were held at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel, London on 15th June.
Claire Belcher, Salon Director commented, "I am so delighted for Sheena and the whole team and it is fantastic to be recognised nationally for our client care. Customer service is extremely important to us and we all work very hard to create a professional yet welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all our clients."
