Autumn / Winter Style Trends 2018

WITH FG DIRECTOR OF HAIRDRESSING, ANYA DELLICOMPAGNI

Autumn/Winter 2018 style is all about nostalgia. The 1960s Jackie Kennedy signature blow-dry was spotted on the catwalk, alongside the punk asymmetric cuts of the 1980s, with a handful of 1990s hair accessories thrown in for good measure.

This season, if you want to be fashion forward, you’ve gotta go back, way back! We asked Anya Dellicompagni, our Director of Hairdressing to talk us through this season’s style trends.

The key look I have taken from this season is the return of shorter hair. It’s been long awaited! Although long hair is still around and on trend, it’s now time to update your long locks to more wearable shorter looks, if you have been thinking about trying out a beautiful bob or a cute pixie crop, now is the time to go for it! Embrace your beauty and have a haircut to suit you, be brave and make the change!

Short Hair Bob

Short hairstyles can make you feel sophisticated, liberated and empowered. This season is all about making that daring change and going for the chop. One of the key things to keep in mind when taking the leap to short locks is speaking to your stylist to ensure that the cut you’re going for will suit your face-shape, hair-type and lifestyle. We recommend booking in with your local FG Salon for a complimentary consultation and they can help you determine a bespoke look that suits you perfectly.

We asked our very talented Stylist Drew, Creative Director of Francesco Group, Eccleshall to create a few on-trend looks for us, to show how these key styles can translate into something you can request at your local salon.

Across an array of catwalks, stylists embraced natural textures with loose, wavy looks for a polished ‘I woke up like this’, look.

Ditch your straightener and embrace your natural hair texture, as demonstrated by Drew with this gorgeous in-salon look. Texture products are a must with this look, adding products will stop it looking too undone but create texture. Get yourself a texture spray and leave your straighteners alone!

AnyaEffortless is my favourite type of style, this is so simple and sexy!

We love this 1980s inspired look by Drew, it’s a fantastic and bold style for a festive night out. Gel and hairspray are essential for this look to work, to keep the hair smooth prep the hair with oil and heat protector, using a straightening iron to keep the hair nice and sleek.

AnyaThis is perfect for a night out, so glamorous!

Forget Me Knot

A trend that is always being revamped is the classic bun. This winter is all about the top-knot bun, with a messy twist. The ideal 2018 A/W bun needs to look like it has been pulled together in one swift movement.

AnyaYou can’t go wrong with a top-knot, make it more dressed and glam for more of a sassy look.

Finally, we’re excited to tell you that hair accessories are going to be big this season! High school classics such as banana grips and zig-zag headbands made their comeback at this year’s New York catwalks for the ultimate retro edge. Models wore messy buns accessorised with these iconic embellishments.
