13 Dec Here’s How to Grow Your Hair Long, Faster
Do you keep seeing people with long hair and feeling frustrated that you just can’t seem to grow your hair long like everyone else? Don’t worry; we are here to help with some tops tips that will soon see you with long flowing locks.
1. It takes time to grow your hair long
Although these tips will help you to achieve long, healthy hair, you have to remember that it takes time! Hair typically grows about a quarter of an inch to half an inch a month, and that is only when it is really healthy, so you have to be patient, you’ll get there in the end.
2. Get a haircut
This may seem strange, but although getting regular trims won’t make your hair grow faster, it will keep your hair looking healthy and prevents split ends from working their way up your hair strands. Anya Dellicompagni, Managing Director, says: “If you take a long time in-between cuts, your split ends will break off higher up, meaning your stylist will have to cut shorter than they would if you had consistent trims. I recommend buying the Kérastase Resistance Extentioniste range, to keep split ends at a minimum”.
3. Conditioner is your friend
If you hair is wet, you have to condition it. Colouring, heat styling and blowdrying makes your hair strands thin, good conditioner helps to replace the liquids and proteins inside the hair shaft. It also seals the cuticle to help prevent more damage.
4. Shampoo is your enemy
Only shampoo when you REALLY have to. The purpose of shampoo is to wash away dirt and product build-up, but it can also take essential natural oils that keep strands soft and healthy along with it. When you really do need to shampoo, be gentler on your hair by only lathering up at your scalp and then simply letting the suds slide down strands, hitting the rest of the hair as the water rinses it out.
5. Apply a hair or oil mask treatment every two – four weeks
Hair that touches your shoulders or beyond can be several years old and most likely needs more TLC than a normal conditioner. We recommend using moisture-based masks and oils weekly. The oils are able to fill strands up with fatty acids and then, when rinsed out, using regular shampoo helps seal them inside the hair. 6. Avoid box-dyes
Although box-dyes always seem like a good idea at the time, they are so much harsher on your hair than a professional colour. We advise always visiting a colourist who can check the condition of your hair before they colour it and you will avoid any damage to the hair, which could be easily avoided.
7. Wrap your hair in a silk scarf at night
If you wrap your hair in a silk scarf or platt it every night, it will help you to avoid any damage from untangling your hair with a brush the following day. The silk scarf also allows your hair & scalp to breathe.
8. Eat well
Long, healthy hair on the outside means you need to be healthy on the inside. To grow your hair, you need to feed it from the inside! Try increasing your protein intake with foods like fish, beans, nuts and whole grains.
9. Speak to your stylist
