HOW TO MAKE
LOCKDOWN WORKFor You!
January is typically seen as a gloomy month, where New Year’s Eve Resolutions are made, then broken and the cold, dark nights aren’t nearly as cosy without the festive glow of Christmas lights. We know that for many of you, the January Blues are going to hit a little harder whilst spending the month in lockdown.
But here at Francesco Group, we want to rethink January’s Lockdown, why not use these long, cold nights in lockdown for long, indulgent baths, hair-masks, facemasks and practising mindfulness techniques?
Let’s think of lockdown as the comfy cocoon that you can emerge from in Spring (hopefully!) as a glorious butterfly!
We want to share with you some of the best self-care tips to keep your mind, hair and body happy during these remaining winter months; so you are ready to step into spring, rejuvenated and blooming!
We know that January is the time of year that many people decide to detox their body after the excess of Christmas, but did you know that you can also detox your hair?
Kérastase Fusio Scrub is a range developed to deeply cleanse the scalp and hair.
Do you struggle with an oily scalp, dandruff or lifeless lengths?
Then Fusio Scrub may be the perfect product for you this winter. There are two types of scrub available, depending on your hair needs. Picture this; a candlelit bath, a facemask, your favourite book and a hair scrub! You will be left feeling squeaky clean, completely relaxed and you will be so glad that you treated yourself to a little bit of ‘me-time’.
For Sensitive scalps
This gentle scrub is specifically designed for sensitive scalps, to remove product build-up and combat dryness and dandruff. Scrub Apaisant leaves the scalp free to breathe; leaving hair looking gorgeous, shinier and with added volume.
For Oily scalps
This energising scrub deeply cleanses the scalp & hair and exfoliates an oily prone scalp, to combat oiliness and dandruff; allowing for stronger, healthier and more beautiful hair.
One good thing about not being able to leave the house? Rarely having to shampoo your hair! Only shampoo when you REALLY have to. The purpose of shampoo is to wash away dirt and product build-up, but it can also take essential natural oils that keep strands soft and healthy along with it. When you need to shampoo, be gentler on your hair by only lathering up at your scalp and then simply letting the suds slide down the strands, hitting the rest of the hair as the water rinses it out.
If your hair is wet, you have to condition it. Colouring, heat styling and blowdrying makes your hair strands thin; good conditioner helps to replace the liquids and proteins inside the hair shaft. It also seals the cuticle to help prevent more damage.
APPLY AHair Mask
Apply a Hair or Oil Mask Treatment Every Two to Four Weeks
Hair that touches your shoulders or beyond can be several years old and most likely needs more TLC than a normal conditioner. We recommend using moisture-based masks and oils weekly. The oils are able to fill strands up with fatty acids and then, when rinsed out, using regular shampoo helps seal them inside the hair. A hair mask isn’t something we often have time for, but try and add it into your routine during lockdown so it remains a beneficial habit once life gets a little more ‘normal’ again.
EAT YOURWay To
Are you going on a health-kick this January? Did you know that there are certain nutrients your hair needs in order to be spun into Rapunzel-esque gleaming locks? Adding nutrients like Biotin, Vitamin C and Iron into your diet will help to get your hair in tip-top shape for Spring!

GET THOSE8 Hours
Of Beauty Sleep
Longer lockdown nights are the perfect excuse to ensure you have at least 8 hours of beauty sleep every night!
How many of us use overnight skin treatments? Now, thanks to Kérastase’s 8H Magic Night Serum, it is time to treat your hair to the same luxury during these cold, winter nights.
The non-greasy formula, containing iris root extract and a blend of 5 essential vitamins, leaves hair feeling lightweight and luxuriously nourished in the morning, with no need to rinse out. With its beautiful fragrance, designed to develop whilst you sleep, it is the perfect addition to your night-time beauty regime. After all, you woke up like this.
as a Mindfulness Technique
One thing many of us have lots of at the moment is free time, so why not use this as an opportunity to embrace mindfulness techniques?
Mindfulness is the process of purposely bringing your attention to experiences occurring in the present moment. Studies have documented both physical and mental health benefits of mindfulness and have consistently shown a positive relationship between mindfulness and psychological health.
Shampooing your hair can be one of the most relaxing mindfulness techniques to add into your usual routine. Pay attention to the scent and texture of the products and embrace the feeling of your scalp moving as you shampoo your hair, notice the sensation of the bubbles as they begin to form and how they feel against your fingertips. When you rinse your hair, be mindful of each movement in your routine and enjoy the feeling of truly taking care of yourself.
Ideally, the best way to avoid split ends is to have frequent haircuts, but while this is impossible during lockdown, products like the Kérastase Resistance Extentioniste range can be your saviour!
This range strengthens hair from the inside out, using powerful amino acids and ceramides to improve elasticity from root to tip. It targets weakened and brittle strands, and the silky formula helps to rebuild the hair’s internal structure to make it more resistant to breakage, whilst creating a smooth and shiny surface.
USE ALLOCATEDExercise Time
to Benefit Your Hair
There are certain exercises that increases blood-flow to the scalp, which can aid in increasing hair-growth; so, if you are thinking of taking up a new sport during lockdown, why not choose one that can help you to achieve luscious tresses?
CARDIO exercises like running helps us to perspire, which opens up our skin pores, including the pores on our scalp. This gets rid of the harmful toxins which are damaging to the hair. People tend to think that because they sweat, their hair is dirty. This isn’t true; it’s just salt and your natural oils. If you use dry shampoo and blow-dry sweat into the hair, you can create a gorgeous texture and polish.
YOGA increases blood flow to the body and scalp because it encompasses back bends and inverted poses, as a result it is fantastic for hair growth! The more frequently blood flows through your body, the more the nutrients and oxygen are delivered to the scalp, improving your hair growth.
The health of our hair can be easily affected by stress. When we are stressed, we produce a hormone called Cortisone, which can lead to our hair shedding. However, whilst exercising we produce the hormone Serotonin, which helps to reduce our stress levels. The less stressed we are, the healthier our hair becomes. A new sport could be the perfect way to get you through the January blues, whilst improving your hair’s health!
If you’re running low on your favourite products, many of our salons are running a Call and Collect service; follow them on social media or contact them directly to find out more.
We hope these tips keep your hair, body and mind healthy until we can see you in the salon again!
